Sustainable development

Airport Deauville-Normandie, managed by SEALAR since July 1, 2025, is a key player in regional air transport and contributes to the tourism and economic vitality of the Normandy. Committed to a progressive and concrete CSR approach, the airport, supported by SEALAR, is implementing actions aimed at reducing its environmental impact, empowering its employees, and supporting the local community. The initiatives presented below are part of a continuous improvement and local collaboration strategy.

Taking action for a more sustainable planet

Deauville-Normandie Airport is committed to protecting the environment and reducing its ecological impact, building on existing initiatives and SEALAR standards to strengthen its CSR approach.

Assess, control and reduce environmental impact

To better understand and reduce its impact, SEALAR has established an environmental steering committee comprised of employees from each of the group's airports. This cross-functional team coordinates actions between the different entities and proposes new initiatives. This collective monitoring allows for the regular evaluation of practices and the implementation of effective solutions to limit the airport's environmental footprint.

Reduce our carbon emissions

As part of its CSR strategy, SEALAR is supporting the airport in the progressive reduction of its carbon emissions. The airport aims to improve its environmental performance by following the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program, an international standard that assesses airports' actions to reduce their carbon footprint. Currently classified as ACA 2, the airport aims to achieve ACA 3 by 2030, which implies advanced control of its emissions and the implementation of concrete strategies to offset them. The letter of commitment formalizes Deauville-Normandie Airport's participation in the Airport Carbon Accreditation program.

Among the initiatives being considered to reduce its carbon footprint, the airport is exploring the introduction of sustainable biofuels, such as HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), which could gradually replace some of the fuel used for ground operations and contribute to more responsible aviation. These actions are part of a long-term strategy aimed at achieving net-zero carbon emissions, while also raising awareness among partners and passengers about the importance of the energy transition in the aviation sector.

Protecting biodiversity and preserving natural environments

Deauville-Normandie Airport has been collaborating with the Aéro Biodiversité, created in 2015, since 2022 to protect and enhance the natural areas found at airports. These often overlooked zones constitute veritable reservoirs of biodiversity. In practice, regular surveys are conducted, with three visits per year to observe, identify, and monitor biodiversity, allowing for the implementation of appropriate measures to preserve local flora and fauna.

Reduce and recycle waste

The environmental team also works on reducing and recovering waste. Through the exchange of best practices between airports and the pooling of resources, the goal is to reduce the volume of waste produced, promote sorting and encourage recycling, while raising awareness among employees and passengers.

Reduce our water consumption

Aware of the importance of conserving water resources, Deauville-Normandie Airport has implemented a rainwater. The rainwater is stored in a cistern and used to supply fire trucks and emergency vehicles, significantly reducing drinking water consumption. This initiative not only reduces the airport's environmental footprint but also makes use of an often-overlooked natural resource, while ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of emergency services.

Take noise pollution into account

The airport is mindful of the impact of air traffic on local residents. A noise pollution reporting allows residents to report any disturbances and participate in the dialogue with the airport. This feedback is essential for adapting practices, improving coexistence with the surrounding area, and reducing noise pollution in a tangible way.

Workplace well-being and safety

At Deauville-Normandie Airport, employee safety and well-being are a top priority. All legal obligations are strictly adhered to, and preventative measures are in place to ensure a safe working environment. This daily vigilance creates a reliable framework where everyone can carry out their duties with peace of mind.

Promoting cohesion within each airport but also between airports

Since 2017, the Normandy airports have collaborated closely through the sharing of staff according to the needs of each site, thus strengthening flexibility and team spirit among the teams. Joint operations by the Airport Security and Firefighting Service (SSLIA) and shared sporting activities, particularly between the Caen and Deauville airports, also contribute to creating strong bonds and lasting cohesion among employees.

Talent and career development

Deauville-Normandie Airport makes it a point of honor to offer each employee training and development opportunities, fostering career advancement and internal promotion. Many talented individuals have thus begun their careers with internships, progressing over the years.

The airport is also committed to introducing the airport sector and aeronautical professions to younger generations, particularly through participation in student forums and targeted promotional activities.

Inclusion and civic engagement

Deauville-Normandie Airport is committed to supporting inclusion and promoting local talent. Welcoming interns, particularly middle school students and tourism students from the Pays d'Auge region, raises awareness among young people about airport careers while offering them a valuable first professional experience. This initiative helps strengthen ties with the local community and encourage local career aspirations.

At the heart of the airport, it's the employees who make the difference. By promoting safety, well-being, cohesion and talent development, Deauville-Normandie Airport is building an environment where everyone can grow, learn and contribute fully.

Contributing to local sustainable development

Deauville-Normandie Airport plays a strategic role in the economic and tourism development of Normandy. Working in synergy with the three other Normandy airports, it contributes to strengthening regional appeal and supporting local initiatives. Every action undertaken aims to create value for the region while fostering sustainable and responsible partnerships with economic and institutional stakeholders.

Territorial development

Deauville-Normandie Airport is actively committed to regional development by forging lasting partnerships with tourist offices . These collaborations help promote the region and its tourist attractions, strengthening Normandy's appeal and the airport's integration within the local community.

Deauville-Normandie Airport also participates in the work of the Normandie AeroEspace in order to stay connected to the needs of businesses and to developments in the Normandy aerospace and technology sector.

Responsible aviation and innovation

Deauville-Normandie Airport aligns with SEALAR's long-term vision for more sustainable and innovative aviation. Although projects are still in their initial stages since the site's acquisition, SEALAR is already incorporating avenues such as decarbonized and electric aviation into its planning. These strategic directions demonstrate the group's commitment to anticipating developments in the aviation sector and preparing responsible solutions for the future, while progressively assessing their feasibility.

Continuous improvement and sustainability

Deauville-Normandie Airport works closely with SEALAR and the owner to ensure the most sustainable operation of the terminal and infrastructure. Thanks to SEALAR's in-house expertise, each process can be continuously assessed and optimized to identify concrete solutions and progress step by step towards increasingly responsible management.

Deauville-Normandie Airport works closely with its local community. By supporting the local economy, promoting tourism and fostering aeronautical innovation, it creates lasting links with residents, businesses and institutions.
