Conference flights and equine freight

An accredited border inspection post

Since July 2013, Deauville-Normandie Airport has been approved as a Border Inspection Post (BIP) for the equine sector by the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection. This approval authorizes the reception of horses from non-Schengen countries, under sanitary and control conditions that comply with international standards.

Flows related to racing and livestock farming

Each year, the platform primarily handles two types of movements. Racehorses from Ireland and England are transported for major competitions held at the local racecourse. In addition, broodmares and their foals pass through the platform before reaching stud farms in the region, after having been abroad, particularly in English-speaking countries and America.

Infrastructure adapted for equine transport

To meet these specific needs, the airport has an inspection station and a temporary transit area with ten stalls, as well as a boarding ramp suitable for aircraft from B737 to A310. These facilities guarantee the comfort and safety of the horses during disembarkation or embarkation operations.

An iconic activity for Normandy

Horse freight is a key activity for Deauville-Normandie Airport, which handles around one hundred horses per year. This traffic is directly linked to the international renown of the local horse industry, reinforced by the racing season and the yearling sales held in Deauville.
